Nipple Erectors: king Of The Bop (Soho)
NME 20.05.78

Avoiding the obvious temptation to guffaw "this group sucks", I'm happy to report  that this seems to be a case of expanding horizons. Judging by the pic on the sleeve the group think, or once thought of themselves as 'punk'; judging by the record they are attempting to communicate with the rockabilly faction.
The result is a bit like Freddie Cannon on speed... not entirely without charm.
The South Will Fall Again: Nipple Erector Shane,
was wandering down the road the other day sporting his Confederacy badge - 'The South Will Rise Again' - and was spotted by a bunch of black guys, who not unnaturally took umbrage at Shane's badge and promptly beat him to a pulp. The only twist however was that shortly after Shane and his Nipple Erectors did a gig for Rock Against Racism.

...Somewhere in the echelons of the music world, the word 'punkabilly' is bandied around by the knowing few. The Nipple Erectors' sound is a mixture of punk, rock'n'roll and a minimal smattering of Sixties harmonies. The whole show is kept together by the frontman, Shane',whose style and adaptability can only be equalled to that of a real professional. Although In Sound and movement a true Vincent devotee, he handles the band's more punk orientated songs well. He somehow always figures in the limelight but he does so deservedly. Let's pretend It's dark and sleazy, hot and sweaty and everyone is charged. Let's pretend the Erectors appear on stage. Don't let's pretend that everyone would enjoy themselves because they genuinely would.
